“Deadpool” Trailer #2

mv5bmjm3mjewoda3mf5bml5banbnxkftztgwnzi4mzm1nze-_v1_uy1200_cr9006301200_al_Today is Christmas, and to celebrate, St. Wade gifted us with 12 days of Deadpool, ending with two magnificent new trailers today (the NSFW red band trailer is found here). I glanced through them, and, despite having little substance in here (most of it is just Deadpool quips), and even less that’s new, I could still pick up some good stuff.

Possible spoilers ahead for “Deadpool”.

First thing I noticed was that they changed the line from the first trailer talking about “Less-angry Rosie O’Donnell” to “Jose Canseco”. This is probably because a big complaint about the first trailer was that it felt so dated, full of 90s references. While Canseco is still not very relevant, he’s not necessarily as tied to the 90s as Rosie O’Donnell.

Second, I’d like to bring up the use of Colossus in this trailer. The big thing is, we can see him talk and fight in this trailer, and I like what I’m seeing. Not much to focus on there, but I thought that was cool.

The other big thing about him was how, in his conversation with Deadpool, it’s revealed that Colossus was sent by the X-Men to confront him. That shows that, not only are the X-Men still a big thing in the new universe created after “Days of Future Past”, but also that, in this movie at least, Deadpool will not be associated with them.

We also get to see some of Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s powers in this trailer. Once again, not much to say, but it looked good. I also liked the characterization given to her through the “keep tweeting” scene.

Finally, the actual focus on the story. The trailer reveals that Deadpool’s mission in this movie is to save his girlfriend (or wife or fiance or whatever) Vanessa from what I’m assuming to be Weapon X. In the comics (and in the movie too it seems) she’s the mutant known as “Copycat”,  whose powers pretty much consist of Mystique’s, except  without the blue skin, and she can also copy other mutant’s powers. So she’d be amazing for Weapon X to have a hold of.

Anyways, that’s all I got for now. Thanks for reading, and see you next time. Merry Christmas!
